The pelvis and its supporting muscles play an enormous role in our day-to-day lives, including supporting our knees and lower back - and informing our ability to walk and move. So many people experience tightness, restriction, or pain in the lower back, hips, and knees. Tension in these areas is a common issue nowadays unfortunately, and as yogis, we are asked to move our pelvic bones, low back, and legs in all different directions. To move safely through a yoga practice, it is helpful to understand the functional anatomy, important muscles, and the common issues/injuries..
Join Abby in this clinic to learn about how the pelvic girdle and lumbar spine move, and how to properly engage, locate, and feel these areas in your own body. You'll also learn foundational movement and breath principles that you can apply to any physical practice, particularly yoga. You’ll walk away with greater knowledge of how to move safely and with care, and how to create strength and longevity in these areas.
This workshop is great for yoga practitioners of any level, and for yoga teachers looking to expand their knowledge of anatomy, alignment, and safe sequencing (2 CE hours available).
