In this workshop, Abby will weave together information from trainings across many different styles of yoga and modalities of bodywork, and over 15 years of experience as a yoga teacher and bodyworker. This workshop is open to yoga teachers and seasoned students - for anyone who wants to learn integral information on how the body moves - practical and useful information for any yogi, yogini, or instructor.
Participants will leave with the confidence & skills to apply your new knowledge to various styles of yoga.
Cost: $55
Yoga teachers who attend, can receive 3 hours of Continuing Education credit through Yoga Alliance for this course.
Every style of yoga is different, and each has the goal to safely open & warm the body to increase functionality, strength, and flexibility. But no matter what style you practice or teach, an understanding of functional anatomy is a necessary tool to be able to create sequences that are safe and feel great, and to teach in a way that fully supports your students.
WHAT WE WILL COVER:
Functional Anatomy - important fascial, muscular, and skeletal anatomy and movement principles that will be directly applicable to your practice and teaching; how to safely warm & prepare the body for the deeper opening/movements of the body in yoga asanas; what anatomical principles to highlight in yoga.
Sequencing - how to apply knowledge of anatomy & movement to sequencing classes in a way that feels great and is safe; how to create sequences that promote spaciousness and depth.
Injury - what common injuries are seen in yoga and their contraindications; how to safely help a student (or yourself!) with an injury.
